Bernard Butler is one of my favourite guitarists of all time, he is also an excellent producer but his search for perfection has led him to fall out with most of the artisits he has worked with.
After splitting from Suede during the recording of Dog Man Star, Butler joined forces with soul singer David McAlmont. They managed one album before going their seperate ways and two singles.
The album The Sound Of McAlmont & Butler was released in 1995, with the first single Yes reaching the UK top 10. The second single is a fantastic cocophony of sound driven by Butlers excellent guitar and the amazing vocal range of McAlmont, You Do.
McAlmont got back together for another album in 2002, before Butler joined former Suede mate Brett Anderson to form the ill fated Tears. More recently Butler has written songs and produced the Duffy album Rockferry.
