Small Faces - Tin Soldier

John Williams - Thursday 20.03.08, 07:00am

Released in 1967, Small Faces singer Steve Marriott originally wrote Tin Soldier for PP Arnold, but liked it so much he decided to keep it for his band. PP Arnold features as backing singer on the track, and can be seen with the band on this video.

Small Faces epitomized the Mod movement of the sixties, and have been influential in modern times with bands like The Jam and Oasis. Marriott is everything that Paul Weller always wanted to be.

When Marriott left the band to form Humble Pie with Peter Frampton in 1969, the other members of the band Ronnie Lane, Kenney Jones and Ian Mclagan were joined by Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart, to become The Faces.
