Marmalade – Reflections Of My Life

John Williams - Friday 22.05.09, 12:56pm

Marmalade were formed in the mid sixties, but became a household name through their cover of The Beatles Obla di Obla da in 1969. The single reached number one in the UK, making Marmalade the first all Scottish band to ever top the UK singles charts.

Marmalade celebrated the success by appearing on Top of the Pops wearing kilts. In the summer of ‘69 Marmalade released  another top ten single with Baby Make It Soon which reached number nine in the charts.

A change of record label from CBS to Decca, allowed the band to write and arrange their own material, resulting in the beautifully melancholic Reflections Of My Life. Haunting and timeless, Reflections of My Life sounds exceptionally good given that it is 40 years old!
