Led Zeppelin - Communication Breakdown, 17th March Gladsaxe, Denmark, 1969

This is a black & white performance by Led Zeppelin of Communication Breakdown in a small television studio in front of a very small audience of crossed legged young music fans.

The film of this live performance was only recently shown on UK television for the first time.

The recent reunion gig at London’s O2 Arena sounded great but it’s so much better to remember Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Bonham & John Paul Jones, the original Led Zeppelin as young cool things.

Ah, young Zeppelin. I saw them at the famous 4+ hour Boston Tea Party concert many moons ago. I have since seen virtually all the greats of rock music, and as great as some of them were ie The Who in ‘69, AC/DC in ‘77, ect. none have ever approached what we witnessed that night in Boston. Led Zeppelin built their immense following largely on word of mouth regarding their early live shows. Lean and hungry and in their prime, Zeppelin were just unbelievably powerful and mesmerizing. I’d love to take any skeptics back with me in the old time machine to that long ago night. I have no doubt that by the end of that show, every single one of them would be fervent believers and devoted Zeppelin fans for life. Check out issue no. 113 of Classic Rock magazine to read the impression live Zep made on many future rock stars.
