Living in the Past reached number three in the UK charts in 1969, despite being at odds with everything that was being played on mainstream ‘Pop’ radio at the time. It was incredibly weird to me as 13 year old, to witness an old man playing a flute in a rock band.

I was wrong of course and the track sounds remarkably good today. Ian Anderson was the singer and flute player as well as being the leader of Jethro Tull.
