Humble Pie were formed by two of the sixties greatest white R&B voices Steve Marriott and Peter Frampton in 1968. Marriott and Frampton were joined by other high profile musicians, bass player Greg Ridley from Spooky Tooth and drummer Jerry Shirley from Apostolic Intervention, to form what is considered to be the first ’supergroup.’
Incredibly, Marriott was just in his twenties when Humble Pie was formed while Frampton was barely eighteen. Shirley was at that time seventeen years old and the old head in the band Ridley in his mid twenties.
