Delaney & Bonnie and Friends – Comin’ Home

John Williams - Wednesday 29.10.08, 07:00am

Delaney & Bonnie Were a husband and wife team that played Rhythm & Blues during the sixties, lauded by their peers of the time, something that was never reflected in record sales.

Eric Clapton met Delaney & Bonnie when they opened for his band Blind Faith. Clapton instantly considered D&B as better than his own band, and when Blind Faith disbanded, Clapton would head out on the road with them.

George Harrison and Dave Mason would also be among the band members for this 1969 tour, that was recorded in the UK on 7 December and released as an album in June 1970, entitled On Tour With Eric Clapton.

One of Delaney & Bonnies best known tracks is the classic Comin’ Home.

I hadn’t heard anything by Delaney & Bonnie before now. But after listening to this track I would agree with Eric Clapton, it is most definitely better than anything he has done.
