U2 – Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For – Gospel version

John Williams - Sunday 30.11.08, 07:00am

This is U2 from the Rattle and Hum album in 1988, the band recorded the track with gospel backing in a church in Harlem during the Joshua Tree tour the previous year.
I doubt that Bono heard it in this way when he wrote it, but it really works so well.
U2 – Still Haven’t Found What [...]

The Doobie Brothers – What a Fool Believes

John Williams - Saturday 29.11.08, 07:00am

I don’t remember The Doobie Brothers being very big in the UK and I was never really a fan, but this song was staple diet on independent FM stations in the UK for years.

Elvis Costello – Alison – Rare First TV Appearance

John Williams - Thursday 27.11.08, 07:03am

This is extremely rare footage of Elvis Costello’s first TV appearance in 1977, the original master tape was apparently wiped after the show.
It has to be said it is not the best quality but worthy of being seen and see what all the fuss was about back in the seventies when Costello first appeared.
My favourite [...]

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band – Thunder Road

John Williams - Wednesday 26.11.08, 07:00am

How I would have loved to have seen Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band back in 1978 when this was recorded ‘live’ in his homeland New Jersey. I missed out on seeing Bruce on his UK Hammersmith dates in 1978 and had to wait another six years before he returned to England.
It was worth the wait [...]
