Chris Martin and Coldplay have achieved global success with their easy listening rock pop songs, but in some quarters have received undue criticism and negative reviews, possibly due to their popularity, rather than their commercial sound.
But Coldplay and Chris Martin in particular have used their voice to champion many good causes such as Make Poverty History and Make Fair Trade.
To give some credibility to the often ridiculed Chris Martin, here he singing the early singles, Yellow by Coldplay and Live Forever by Oasis, along with Noel Gallagher at a charity gig in aid for ‘Make Fair Trade’.
Chris Martin has appeared with several top acts over the years and it would be too much of a surprise to see the likes of Michael Stipe (REM), Noel Gallagher (Oasis) or Bono (U2) to make a special appearance or two, on the forthcoming Coldplay tour.

All four members met while studying in London as undergraduate students at UCL (University College London), and Coldplay were formed in 1997 by Chris Martin, Will Champion, Johnny Buckland and Guy Berryman.
In 1998, Coldplay released 500 copies only of their first single, Safety EP. The single was given to record companies and friends.
Coldplay then signed to the independent label, Fierce Panda where they released their second single, the three-track Brothers & Sisters EP. Both singles are now very rare collectables, as you can imagine.
Once Coldplay had graduated, they signed a lucrative five-album contract with Parlophone in the spring of 1999. It didn’t take them long to receive commercial success and worldwide fame with the release of their first Parlophone single, Yellow and their debut album, Parachutes in 2000.
They have since gone on to record three more number one albums: A Rush of Blood to The Head (2002), X&Y (2005) and Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008).
Coldplay have gone on to sell over sold 34 million albums worldwide which have included a string of hits such as Fix You, Talk, Clocks and the most recent Violet Hill.
