Joy Division – Shadowplay

In 1978 Joy Division made their television debut on the Granada Television early evening light entertainment programme, So It Goes, hosted by Factory Records record label boss, Tony Wilson.
Here’s a great live performance of Joy Division with Steven Morris (drums), Bernard Sumner (guitar), Peter Hook (bas) and the late Ian Curtis (vocals) performing Shadowplay.

The Beach is from the excellent album Fate by Dr. Dog, released this year. Fate is a brilliant album, evoking memories of the American bands such as The Band and Allman Brothers and adding a twist of vaudeville and the feel of a travelling band.

Reggae became synonymous with the Skinhead fashion around 1969, and although the fashion soon passed the music lived on.
This track is from 1971, it was anumber one hit for Dave & Ansil Collins called Double Barrel, and at school, an absolute must have!

Marianne Faithful – Ballad Of Lucy Jordan

This track is from Mariannes comeback album Broken English, released in 1979 after a long absence from recording.
Broken English is considered to be her best album and this is a great track with a video directed by Derek Jarman, I believe. She still looked good back then.
