In 1979 Billy Mackenzie & Alan Rankine aka The Associates released their debut single, a version of David Bowie’s Boys Keep Swinging. The most surprising fact, especially for David Bowie is that it was released before Bowie’s own single.
In 1994 Billy Mackenzie perfomed David Bowie’s beautiful ballad Wild Is The Wind live on tv just three years before he committed suicide on 22nd January 1997.
With this performance Billy Mackenzie proves beyond any doubt that he had one of the most original, angelic voices ever to grace the world of pop music.
Posthumously, the Wild In The Wind EP was released in 2001 on the Rhythm Of Life record label.
